About This Project
Summary
The ACTION-Housing: MyPlace Program serves youth aging out of foster care who experience homelessness, incarceration, or death, within the first 6 months of aging out. MyPlace has been working to put an end to that cycle. The MyPlace program has invested in the youth by providing life skills centering around education, employment, household finances, and access to equitable health resources. MyPlace has provided the skills for participants to care for and sustain themselves, and future families.
Goals & Objectives
The goal for the MyPlace program has always been to empower former homeless foster youth who are aging out of care. Decrease the population of youth adults experiencing homeless. MyPlace accomplishes this mission by removing barriers of homelessness, food insecurity, unemployment.
Results & Impact
The MyPlace has now served over 1,000 youth who were at risk and continues to serve 260 youth each year. The 260 youth remain housed (including the college student population) and increasing their capacity to sustain equitable livelihoods.
