About This Project

Summary

Developed by the American Battlefield Trust and the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, an app, website, and kiosk provide access to a database that comprises a global network of sites tied to the lives and legacies of those who have received the nation’s highest military honor. The project has been an exercise in understanding the data and uncovering opportunities for engagement within.

Goals & Objectives

The goal of the project is to raise awareness to acts of valor and provide a way to personally connect with those acts through location awareness. The app is just one manifestation of the database; the data can be viewed on the website, and in kiosks in the Medal of Honor Museum.

Results & Impact

The database has been used in three ways: first, a website and kiosk, then an app. The result of the collaboration is a closer relationship between the organizations and a new project to use the data that was extant in the database for the Congressional Medal of Honor Society's Citizen Awards.
