About This Project
Summary
AMERICAN SIKH is the true and unlikely story of an American born, turban-wearing Sikh man who after a lifetime of facing prejudice, surviving genocidal violence, self-doubt and racial targeting, manifests his vulnerability to confront bigotry and intolerance powered by humor and compassion. By capturing the key ups and downs, inflection points of this story, almost everyone watching can find moments and anchors to connect with.
Goals & Objectives
Our vision was to showcase the universal human experience that permeates across the lifespan of Vishavjit’s journey. Our long term goal was to have this film serve as a tool for inclusion and belonging in any setting including the workplace, schools and places of worship.
Results & Impact
Since releasing the film online last September, American Sikh has screened at art exhibits, NYC Department of Health, FDNY, South Asian Journalists Association conference, Tanenbaum Interfaith Center, Alaska Airlines, schools, places of worship, universities and Anti-Hate conferences.
