About This Project

Summary

American Student Assistance® (ASA), a national nonprofit at the forefront of changing the way kids learn about careers, conducted a nationwide survey of 3,000+ students in 7-12 grades uncovering teenagers’ attitudes, perceptions, and decision-making about their post-high school plans. The survey revealed a continued drop-off in their plans to go to college, parental influence on their plans and perceptions of nondegree pathways like trade school, apprenticeships, etc.

Goals & Objectives

ASA partnered with Rosica Communications to execute a PR campaign around the survey results, specifically focusing on students’ rising interest in trade programs and parents’ attitudes toward nondegree programs. Our primary goal was to secure coverage in a national or top education trade.

Results & Impact

ASA and Rosica Communications’ efforts secured more than 20 stories and generated more than 722 million earned impressions to date. Placements have run in top national consumer and business outlets such as USA TODAY and Forbes. Also, Celebrity Mike Rowe shared the USA TODAY article on social media!
