About This Project

Summary

As a music company committed to equity, Believe and TuneCore recognize that gender disparities in our industry reflect global systemic issues. In summer 2025, Believe Americas and TuneCore sponsored two studies on the Latin music industry in collaboration with Ruidosa, an independent, feminist platform and community founded by Grammy-nominated artist Francisca Valenzuela. Findings show 80% of leadership roles and major festival lineups are male-dominated.

Goals & Objectives

The research by Ruidosa in partnership with Believe Americas & TuneCore aims to explore gender disparities & cultural and economic factors in Latin America's music industry. By revealing these inequalities, we seek to raise awareness & promote more diversity, inclusivity, & equity across the region.

Results & Impact

Only 1 in 5 artists at major festivals are women, and female bands or non-binary solo acts make up just 0.4% of headliners. In the industry, only 2 in 10 leadership roles are held by women and just 12% reach CEO or president, exposing deep gender gaps in Latin American music.
