About This Project
Summary
BG crafted and executed a comprehensive media strategy around Raine v. OpenAI, a landmark wrongful death lawsuit filed by Matt and Maria Raine after their son Adam’s death by suicide. Partnering with the family, legal team, and advocacy groups, we secured high-profile NYT and NBC exclusives, and coordinated dozens of interviews across print, broadcast, and digital media. This resulted in global awareness, major OpenAI product changes and action from lawmakers, including an U.S. Senate hearing.
Goals & Objectives
Bryson Gillette’s goal was to spotlight the dangers of unregulated AI, elevate the Raines’ story with dignity, and pressure OpenAI to make changes to protect kids. By reaching diverse media and influencer audiences, we aimed to shape a clear public narrative around an emerging crisis.
Results & Impact
80+ stories including NYT & NBC exclusives sparked bipartisan Senate support from Padilla & Hawley, forcing a Senate hearing on AI harms to kids. Legal team hit every major network + NYT Daily episode while influencers amplified across all platforms.
