About This Project

Summary

Talking about serious illness, hospice, and palliative care doesn’t have to be dark. Together with two serious illness care experts, we created the Serious Illness Messaging Toolkit. The toolkit switches the script on serious illness communications. Building on years of research and interviews, the toolkit puts patient experience at the heart of messaging for hospice, palliative, and serious illness care. It drives access to better resources, messaging, and, ultimately, care.

Goals & Objectives

For too long, conversations surrounding serious illness care painted a one-dimensional inaccessible picture. After conducting research on how to effectively speak to the public on serious illness, Dr. Anthony Back and Marian Grant, DNP approached Constructive to build a comprehensive toolkit.

Results & Impact

The Serious Illness Messaging Toolkit centers on inclusive visual storytelling reflecting the diversity of needs across communicators and patients. It elevates evidence-based messaging principles to increase understanding, and drives engagement through downloadable messages and resources.
