Is Everyone Welcome? Tools to Broaden Volunteer Engagement

About This Project

Summary

We enacted a research-to-action process that culminated in a free online toolkit. The toolkit aims to promote broader access to volunteerism through more welcoming volunteer administration practices. A group of over 20 individuals with the Certification in Volunteer Administration (CVA) worked collaboratively to research, recommend, and create tools. The toolkit is hosted with our national partner, VolunteerMatch, and has a permanent home in their Learning Center.

Goals & Objectives

We developed free tools to help volunteer leaders create more welcoming, inclusive engagement practices. These resources support every stage of the volunteer cycle, ensuring all community members feel invited to participate.

Results & Impact

We’ve shared the toolkit with 2,000+ volunteer leaders through workshops, webinars, podcasts, and conferences. They report greater confidence in building inclusive and strategic practices, helping them recruit more volunteers and engage the communities they serve.
