About This Project
Summary
The U.S. Democracy Hub is the first comprehensive diagnostic of America’s nonprofit democracy sector. Developed by Democracy Funders Network and Third Plateau, the Hub transforms fragmented field knowledge and opaque records into a living map of over 3,500 organizations, monitoring resource flows, field health, and strategic gaps. At a fragile moment for democracy, it equips funders, nonprofits, and journalists to see the system clearly and strengthen it strategically.
Goals & Objectives
To build shared civic measurement infrastructure that demystifies the democracy field: who’s doing what, where resources flow, and where investments are most needed. The Hub gives the field the tools it needs to identify blind spots, track risks, and act strategically in defense of open society.
Results & Impact
The Hub now serves as a backbone tool for funders, nonprofits, and journalists working to understand and protect U.S. democracy. It has revealed critical funding gaps, highlighted risks from declining public investment, and supported more aligned, data-informed decision-making across the field.
