About This Project
Summary
Airbnb.org is a nonprofit founded by Airbnb that provides free emergency housing in times of crisis. It uses the Airbnb platform to connect people in need with hosts offering a place to stay. 100% of donations go directly to housing. Since 2020, it’s provided 1.6 million nights of free, temporary stays (often near loved ones and support networks) to over 250,000 people. In 2025, it expanded its reach with 37 responses so far this year, delivering comfort when it matters most.
Goals & Objectives
Since its founding, Airbnb.org has focused on emergency response—providing stays to evacuees, relief workers, first responders and people displaced by conflict. From May 2024–Apr 2025, it aimed to respond faster, scale up, and ensure displaced people could quickly reach safety and comfort.
Results & Impact
In the last year, Airbnb.org led 37 disaster responses across 11 countries—providing free stays to 34,000 for a total of 90,000 nights of emergency housing. From the LA wildfires to Central Texas flooding to crises abroad, it marked the nonprofit’s biggest sustained impact yet.
