About This Project
Summary
Empathy Week is a global festival of film, storytelling & events that develops the skill of empathy in students aged 5-18 with a mission to build the 'Empathy Generation'. Set up by former teacher turned filmmaker Ed Kirwan, the week is free for all schools anywhere in the world. Why? Empathy is the most important human skill that sits at the foundation of all others - (a top skill for 2030 - WEF). We upskill teachers, excite students, provide resources and opportunities to build empathy.
Goals & Objectives
The objective for 2025 was to increase student reach (we did this by 200,000 students) and improve the accessibility for all students and teachers to develop the skill of empathy whilst encouraging them to see the importance and value of purposefully developing human skills with intent.
Results & Impact
Since 2020 we have reached 1.8 million students and in 2025 alone (our biggest year) we reached 500,000 students. 100% of teachers say that they will continue to develop the skill of empathy after the festival and you can see in one of the links case studies of schools - each one linking to the week
