About This Project

Summary

SURVIVOR MADE, a documentary made by an all-survivor team, captures the journeys of six survivor-entrepreneurs featured on GIFTED, FreeFrom’s marketplace that builds survivors’ wealth. Set during the holiday season, the film follows these survivors as they build businesses, balance rich family lives, and work toward their sales goal. SURVIVOR MADE shifts the narrative on gender-based violence from pain to possibility, showcasing the joy, resilience, and solutions survivors bring to the table.

Goals & Objectives

The documentary’s goal is to disrupt the harmful narratives about gender-based violence and expand what the public believes is possible for how our society can better support survivors. Through the film’s impact campaign, we aimed to reach a wide audience with its story of survivors’ power and joy.

Results & Impact

The film premiered with a 6-city tour, reaching 1,470 people, and 1,252 people have downloaded it to watch at home. 92.8% of respondents said the film helped them better understand how financial independence helps break cycles of abuse and supports survivor well-being. GIFTED’s orders increased 59%.
