About This Project
Summary
The IWMF Impact Report showcases their vital work promoting global press freedom, particularly for women, non-binary, and under-represented minority reporters. Our design balances the gravity of threats facing journalism with journalists’ own resilience. Using black and white photojournalism, layered shapes, and hand-drawn accents, the site weaves together potent stories, statistics, and journalists’ work, to highlight IWMF's accomplishments amidst journalism’s deadliest year on record.
Goals & Objectives
For the IWMF's 35th anniversary, we created a report design that balances the serious challenges to press freedom with their community's resilience and joy. The site highlights this tension, showcasing both the organization's worldwide impact and featuring voices from their journalist network.
Results & Impact
In 2024, IWMF provided $1.5M+ to 2K journalists in 60 countries, trained journalists in 200+ newsrooms, and supported 150+ fellows in 65+ publications. The site honors their community, demonstrates impact to funders, and amplifies the role of press freedom in protecting democratic values worldwide.
