About This Project
Summary
As one of the largest employers of entry-level jobs in the U.S., Gap Inc. bridges the opportunity gap that marginalized individuals face in accessing jobs and economic opportunities. Our first Opportunity Hiring program launched in 2007 and focused on youth from underserved communities. Since then, we have expanded programming to support refugees and immigrants, filling essential roles in our stores and distribution centers while advancing opportunity and prosperity in our communities.
Goals & Objectives
We focus on standardizing hiring and onboarding processes while providing better support to English language learners including document translation, bilingual supervisor training and programming to equip ELLs with skills to apply in the workplace and beyond, creating pathways for economic mobility.
Results & Impact
Programs boost employability and income by enhancing skills and promoting job access. We hired 900+ refugees and immigrants, including 300 in 2023, and provided English training to 200+. Initiatives strengthen community connections, confidence, and economic mobility potentially saving the U.S $1B/yr
