About This Project
Summary
The people of LA County vote for the issues that matter most to them (green space, homelessness, etc.) to determine our foundation’s funding priorities; then, social impact groups apply for grants. This year’s campaign, “Who Can? YOU CAN!,” included voting in 13 languages, 24 community events for volunteers; 100+ community groups as outreach partners, 180 youth ambassadors, eight funding partners, three media partners; a website, newsletters, art, legacy media relations, and myriad social media.
Goals & Objectives
Last year, 80,000 votes were cast. A goal was to increase that number. We also wanted to reach geographically and demographically diverse communities throughout famously sprawling Los Angeles County, without a big budget. We also were a year removed from our media-friendly 10th anniversary.
Results & Impact
More than 105,000 votes were cast, a 31% increase. We had voters from 98% of LA zip codes. The 24 volunteer activations had impact. We had more youth ambassadors, and more community, funding, and media partners. Grants submissions rose 45%. And a magazine named our President a Top 20 Civic Leader.
