About This Project
Summary
Crises can strike at any moment and disrupt daily life, displace families and limit access to play. Following the destructive LA fires earlier this year, Good Sports rallied behind the local youth sports community and swiftly launched the Restore Play LA Recovery Fund. This initiative mobilized the organization’s robust network to replace essential sports equipment, apparel/footwear and infrastructure lost in the fires, addressing immediate and long-term needs of LA’s youth sports community.
Goals & Objectives
Good Sports’ 2024 survey with The Harris Poll found that three in five parents struggle with youth sports costs – a burden worsened by the devastating LA fires. In response, Good Sports launched Restore Play LA to raise $1 million to help affected communities rebuild youth sports.
Results & Impact
As part of this effort, Good Sports rallied partners to provide more than $1.8 million in donations to support LA youth sports recovery. While full recovery will take time, over 40 programs and 15,000 kids have already benefited – and Good Sports remains committed to the long haul.
