Spotting Wildfires from Space

Summary

Currently, wildfire authorities depend on satellite imagery that’s low-resolution or only updated a few times a day. FireSat advances the science and practice of fighting wildfires by providing high-resolution imagery that updates every 20 minutes, helping emergency responders catch wildfires before they become destructive. We set out to create content after the first satellite launch, demonstrating the societally beneficial impact of AI in the fight against wildfires in a socially native way.

Our goal was to demonstrate Google’s AI impact and mission via the passionate problem solvers who are innovating within Google.
