About This Project
Summary
VOTING BOOTH is a viral earned media campaign that GRAiNEY PICTURES and Dode Levenson/SCALABLE MEDIA GROUP created for Vote Common Good in support of the Harris Walz campaign last Fall. Supported by voting data, we carefully designed the campaign to offer a permission structure for a niche group of disenfranchised voters. The first spot was narrated by Julia Roberts and filmed in Los Angeles. The second spot was narrated by George Clooney, and shot in Detroit.
Goals & Objectives
Since there wasn't money for paid ad buys, the idea was to craft two provocative spots - one targeting moderate Republican female voters and one for male voters. The campaign went viral and catalyzed a much larger debate around agency, the patriarchy and the depths of the nation's divide.
Results & Impact
The NY Times described "Voting Booth" as the “Surprise Hit of the TV Ad Season”. Other press coverage included the WSJ, CBS, NBC, CNN, NPR, Politico, La Opinion & The Atlantic, with Colbert & SNL running spoofs. The two spots reached a whopping 33+ Billion Unique Views within weeks of release.
