Summary
Microsoft Unlocked is a site showcasing the global impact of creativity, innovation, and technology. This project created an immersive multimedia experience to explore Amazon rainforest conservation. Focusing on bioacoustics—the study of nature's sounds—it highlights how AI and specialized microphones monitor wildlife and ecological health. Combining interactive audio, AI-generated artwork, and a science-driven narrative, it showcases innovative conservation strategies to protect the Amazon.
Goals & Objectives
Our goal was to create an immersive experience that tells the story of bioacoustics aiding conservation in the Amazon. We aimed to educate visitors about the science and power of bioacoustics through a visual and sound-driven narrative, highlighting AI’s role in protecting wildlife.
Results & Impact
Our interactive audio visualizer for the editorial story has achieved 253K page views since April, with a 37% engagement rate and an average time on site of 2 min 20 sec. Users can mix animal sounds, simulating bioacoustic research and offering a multisensory experience.
