TCI University: Scaling Health Knowledge Through Coaching and Digital Learning
Johns Hopkins University - W.H. Gates Sr. Institute for Population and Reproductive Health PROJECTAbout This Project
Summary
TCI University (TCI-U) is the digital learning platform of The Challenge Initiative, empowering local governments in Africa and Asia to scale and sustain high-impact reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH) interventions. With step-by-step toolkits and a mobile app for low-bandwidth settings, TCI-trained coaches work collaboratively with local governments to transfer capacity, promote local ownership for sustainability, and strengthen health systems with quality services.
Goals & Objectives
The goal of TCI-U is to build lasting local capacity and strong health systems by equipping governments and health workers with the knowledge and skills to implement and sustain proven RMNCH interventions, ultimately saving lives, improving health, and advancing locally-led and financed programs.
Results & Impact
With 22,000+ users, 62,000 certificates earned, and 18,000 coaches trained, TCI drives real-world change. Since 2017, TCI's work has resulted in 5.8 million additional family planning clients, averted 2 million unintended pregnancies, prevented 1M unplanned births, and saved 5,000 mothers’ lives.
