About This Project
Summary
The Kerry & Melinda Kirby Foundation, in partnership with the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana and Uber Health, launched "Ride with Kenny" to provide non-emergency medical transportation for kidney patients statewide. This initiative honors Kenneth Fredrick Kirby, one of the first dialysis patients in Louisiana, and aims to ensure patients can access lifesaving dialysis treatments. The program is 100% funded by a multi-year grant from the Kerry & Melinda Kirby Foundation.
Goals & Objectives
Ride with Kenny delivers HIPAA-compliant rides for kidney patients across Louisiana, eliminating critical access barriers to dialysis. This first-of-a-kind lifesaving program drives health equity, empowers vulnerable communities, and transforms patient outcomes statewide.
Results & Impact
This groundbreaking program now moves patients daily across Louisiana, closing critical gaps in insurance-based transport delays and serving the most vulnerable. In one powerful case, Ride with Kenny became a lifeline for a dialysis patient left stranded during a two-month Medicaid delay.
