About This Project
Summary
The Kijana Global Innovation School, founded in 2020 in western Kenya is an innovative contribution to the global educational landscape. Our intention: to place human collaboration with a sensitivity to our place in time and on our fragile earth along with lifelong learning at the heart of education. We aim to provide a world-class education to rural Kenyans, and connect students to the world. To be sustainable, we needed to grow enrollment. We instituted a multi-pronged approach to that end.
Goals & Objectives
Our goal is to provide a beautiful learning environment to at least 350 students by 2026. Elements in growing the school include providing a multi-faceted holistic learning environment with large comfortable classrooms and creative art around the school and a supportive, dedicated faculty.
Results & Impact
We have grown school enrollment from 15 students in January 2020 to 235 in July 2024. Faculty and staff have grown from eight members in January 2020 to over 35 in July 2024. The school is now the largest employer in the area. Scores more obtain work when construction takes place.
