About This Project
Summary
Love Justice International’s (LJI) transit monitoring strategy attacks human trafficking at the most strategic moment—while victims are in transit but BEFORE they have been enslaved. Transit monitoring fills a critical service gap and is a tangible, measurable and cost effective intervention. LJI gathers actionable intelligence to understand trafficking networks and increase prosecutions, as well as repatriates victims who do not need extensive aftercare since LJI intervenes before exploitation.
Goals & Objectives
LJI’s audacious vision is to reduce the prevalence of human trafficking in locations of operation. LJI plans to operate 120 high-impact transit monitoring stations at strategic locations of trafficking prevalence (current 73) as well as to scale up three impact-multiplying strategies.
Results & Impact
Since 2006, LJI has intercepted over 65,000 individuals to prevent them from being trafficked and has facilitated the arrest of over 1,500 suspects, with over 30% of closed cases resulting in conviction. Impact is currently on an exponential growth curve with over 2,500 intercepts during June alone.
