About This Project

Summary

The Global Gamers Challenge, sponsored by Google's Flutter and Global Citizen, is an 8-week contest to create mobile games using Flutter. Participants develop games that encourage actions like reducing home energy use and minimizing single-use plastics. The strategy leverages developers' creativity and skills to drive social awareness, aiming to inspire collective action. By engaging developers in purposeful game creation, the challenge shows how individual efforts can lead to global impact.

Goals & Objectives

To inspire the creation of purposeful games using Flutter, targeting 200 submissions from developers, UX designers, artists, & activists worldwide. Objectives: Highlighting technology's role in raising environmental awareness, promoting small actions demonstrating the power of collective change.

Results & Impact

Exceeded goals, promoting sustainable actions within the mobile development community. The Global Gamers Challenge received 1000s of submissions, secured influential judges and partners, and garnered tens of thousands of content views worldwide. Winners were featured & announced at Google I/O 2024.
