About This Project

Summary

New Disabled South partnered with the American Association of People with Disabilities, Detroit Disability Power, and Disability Culture Lab to send a message, ahead of the 2024 election, that disabled voters are a powerful voting bloc. We placed the ad in critical states that typically determine the outcome of national elections and targeted voters, and we targeted campaign staffers nationwide on LinkedIn.

Goals & Objectives

We aimed to mobilize disabled voters, educate allied voters, and pressure candidates and campaign staffers to fight for disabled people. We set out to send a powerful message that reminded those in power that disabled people voted, too.

Results & Impact

We reached millions of voters across multiple states, got thousands of hits to voting resources, and were able to see our efforts to push campaign staffers to do better on disability actually show results. We heard from dozens of disabled voters that seeing our ad pushed them to show up to vote.
