About This Project
Summary
Canada is one of the safest places in the world for a child. Yet with an increase of 27% in suspected cases of online child sexual abuse last year, the moment a Canadian child goes online, they’re no longer safe. ‘Safe Spaces’ features the heart-breaking stories of six mothers whose children were victims of online sexual abuse. Each were filmed in the seemingly safe space where their child was first contacted online, dramatizing the inescapable truth that this can happen to anyone, anywhere.
Goals & Objectives
C3P asked us to find a way to leverage the true stories of six mothers into a cohesive campaign to generate public support for the federal government’s proposed Online Harms Bill (C-60), set to be voted on earlier this year. The goal was to encourage public support to ensure the bill would pass.
Results & Impact
The campaign was covered widely in national and international press and is to date the most widely seen initiative from C3P, creating significant impact and awareness, yet the unexpected federal election postponed the vote on Bill C-60.
