About This Project
Summary
Conceived in the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder, DEI in Context is a video-based online program that effectively integrates history into DEI initiatives, empowering organizations to be a force for change. The debut collection, Patterns in American Racism, focuses on anti-Black racism in the United States and features six video-based modules. Topics covered include the history of slavery, Jim Crow, lynching, housing discrimination, and mass incarceration.
Goals & Objectives
DEI in Context aims to provide historical context for systemic oppression to make DEI initiatives more impactful. Delving into history exposes the foundations of systemic inequality, compelling us all to assume responsibility and act with urgency in the quest for equitable solutions.
Results & Impact
DEI in Context helps participants understand the historical roots of social injustice and fosters productive conversations about discrimination. At a time when DEI is under attack, these conversations are crucial to hold organizations and ourselves responsible for meaningful change.
