About This Project
Summary
To raise awareness of the Supreme Court’s emergency abortion care ban case and its potentially deadly consequences, we constructed a lifesize, mock emergency waiting room. Participants hear stories from patients who have experienced serious and life threatening pregnancy complications, and physicians who have provided emergency abortion care. The storytellers confirm what we know: Health care decisions should be made by patients and their doctors, not medically unqualified lawmakers or judges.
Goals & Objectives
The Abortion Is Our Right Tour is a profound storytelling exhibit and education vehicle about the Supreme Court's case on emergency care and its potentially deadly consequences. Audiences learn the harrowing truth: Pregnant people will suffer or die if the court doesn't defend lifesaving ER care.
Results & Impact
Our exhibit successfully demonstrates that bans on abortion are bans on lifesaving health care. Bans endanger the lives of pregnant people. This exhibit focuses on emergency care, bringing new audiences to the abortion rights movement, motivating them to action, and helping destigmatize abortion.
