About This Project
Summary
Precision Neuroscience has developed an AI-powered brain implant, called a brain-computer interface, that allows the user to operate digital devices with just their thoughts. It will restore independence to people who have become paralyzed by conditions such as spinal cord injury, stroke, and ALS.
Goals & Objectives
Precision’s goal is to give back independence to those who have lost the ability to move or speak. Precision’s BCI will allow users to operate a computer or phone, hold a job, or keep in touch with loved ones, by simply thinking about the action they’d like to perform.
Results & Impact
In 2025, we received our FDA Clearance for our Layer 7 BCI, representing a major milestone for the BCI field, marking the first full regulatory clearance granted to a company developing next-generation BCIs. Layer 7 is now authorized for commercial use with implantation durations of up to 30 days.
