Summary

Our journalism is guided by an obligation to the truth, a loyalty to citizens, and a disciplined verification of our reporting. We believe in journalism’s social and civic responsibility in a democracy and the need to pursue it without fear or favor. We blend long-form storytelling, photojournalism, documentary film, poetry and podcasts to inform, inspire, and ignite action.

Goals & Objectives

Our mission is to produce difference-making work, focused on urgent environmental and social issues, that provokes discussion, inspires reflection and speaks to the times with compelling storytelling that is timeless and sparks action.

Results & Impact

Trust and integrity. Red Canary is recognized for its editorial integrity, in-depth reporting, & artistic excellence. We’ve received sixteen journalism awards, including first-place honors, from the LA Press Club, Society of Professional Journalists, Society of Environmental Journalists, and Webbys.
