Aisha

About This Project

Summary

"Aisha" was written and created before October 7th 2023, but unfortunately has even more salience now. Aisha, a Palestinian girl in Gaza City, longs for freedom and safety - without having to give up her cultural and religious identity to the Israeli-American aid worker that wishes to "save" her. I strongly believe that art and storytelling are profoundly powerful and important tools in the effort to start to bring understanding, empathy, and hopefully peace to Palestine and Israel.

Goals & Objectives

We want to use immersive audio storytelling as a tool for community engagement, organizing listening sessions and panel discussions to foster empathy and understanding. The piece aims to spark conversations and drive social change, using the power of art to address critical issues and promote peace.

Results & Impact

"Aisha" received the Tribeca Festival award for independent audio storytelling, and through that, reached thousands. It was also nominated for a Webby Award in the Experimental Podcast category, highlighting its innovative approach and profound impact in raising awareness about Palestinian rights.
