About This Project

Summary

Sisters Affirming Sisterhood Project (SAS Project) is a trans-led nonprofit redistributing gender-affirming clothing & supplies to queer & low-income communities while diverting fashion waste & creating job pathways. With just $6,000 in donations over 3 years of operation & no paid staff, we've launched a scalable, intersectional model that blends sustainability, workforce development, & trans liberation with pop-up closets & skill-building workshops, with expansion plans for a mobile boutique.

Goals & Objectives

Distribute 3,000+ affirming items annually, expand our Threads Reimagined program, co-host community events rooted in care and culture, launch a mobile boutique, and offer job experience to trans and marginalized workers in fashion, logistics, and public-facing roles.

Results & Impact

In under 3 years, we've served over 500 people across 6 states, redistributed nearly 5,000 lbs. of clothing, engaged 5,000+ community members, co-hosted over 2 dozen pop-up events, and trained volunteers. We've grown our online presence from 800 to 8,000 followers without any institutional funding.
