About This Project
Summary
For the last 13 years, Jason Gubatayao, a member of the Tsimshian tribe of South East Alaska, has managed thousands of miles of the Tongass Forest. His work is keeping a wild place wild. A key to that success is creating better habitat for salmon. This place runs deep in his veins. Jason is working alongside nature for future generations. Our job was to capture this story and share it with his community and the world.
Goals & Objectives
To honor the work beyond logging. To inspire a community of indigenous forest managers to continue working alongside nature. To engage partners worldwide who want to do similar work to protect wild places and invest in future generations.
Results & Impact
This film was just completed and shown at town halls across South East Alaska building pride and local buy-in to the work beyond logging. The film is scheduled to be screened across Europe with current and future partners in land management and sustainability.
