About This Project
Summary
Help Stop Hate turns Illinois’s promise to confront hate into action. Span named and branded the hate act response service, built a trauma-informed identity, and launched a statewide multilingual campaign. Posters, transit, groceries, and digital tools made the call clear: Report hate, get support. QR codes and a simple entry point transformed policy into trusted civic infrastructure.
Goals & Objectives
Increase reporting of hate incidents across Illinois. Raise awareness that every act matters. Make reporting visible, simple, and trusted. Ensure access in seven languages. Establish a reliable baseline of data and survivor support.
Results & Impact
In week one, reports exceeded the prior six months—an immediate 12,000% surge that set a new baseline. The campaign reached 90% of Illinois residents across 40 counties, with digital engagement above industry benchmarks. Backed by a Governor launch and sustained press, it turned silence into action.
