About This Project

Summary

Stanford Engineering: A Century of Discovery, Innovation, and Impact, was a one-year project accomplished through collaboration and remarkable efficiency – a literary barnraising. Drawn from archival photos and documents, news articles, biographies, oral histories and more, the book tells the story of the school’s evolution, its world-changing breakthroughs, and the people who drove its progress. Its content served as the basis for all other centennial projects (videos, microsite, events, etc).

Goals & Objectives

Designed as a coffee-table book with striking images and decade-focused chapters, the book aimed to cover the school’s remarkable journey from 1925, highlighting its world-changing breakthroughs and global impact. Meticulous research, footnoting, and fact-checking ensured accuracy.

Results & Impact

The centennial book resonated across the Stanford community. We printed 3000 copies to gift to key affiliates and published the book’s decade stories on our microsite for free. The first comprehensive story of the school from its inception, the books served as a hallmark of the centennial.
