About This Project
Summary
Real Bail Reform is a hybrid grassroots and digital campaign to reclaim the narrative on bail reform by centering real people and their voices. Over 1,000 people responded to a national call asking: If you could say anything about bail reform on a billboard, what would it be?. We featured their messages on 20 billboards across Texas and Michigan – states central to pretrial reform debates – and brought their voices to life through on-the-street interviews, reels, and digital storytelling.
Goals & Objectives
The campaign was designed to spotlight the injustices of cash bail. By amplifying everyday voices in support of pretrial justice, elevating powerful stories and lived experiences, we aimed to shift public perception, grow national awareness, and influence policy conversations in key states.
Results & Impact
The multi-channel campaign sparked national engagement, generating over 68M billboard impressions, 17M digital ad views, and 6M organic views. The billboards helped result in the amendment of Texas SJR5 to include critical safeguards and due process protections.
