About This Project
Summary
IDE curates high-touch experiences and meaningful content that explores culture through the lens of food. Our signature programming includes intimate celebrations, dinners, and curated conversations each with its own paradigm-shifting theme. Our mission is to broaden the conversation to include the diverse voices from throughout the globe making significant contributions to culinary and beverage culture. Net proceeds benefit Spelman College students from Jamaica and select African countries.
Goals & Objectives
We identify emerging diverse talent in culinary/beverage industry. We create a platform for them to tell their story in an intimate setting. Each event has its own paradigm shifting theme (eg. sustainable farming, Black farmer land loss, etc. ). Proceeds benefit the HBCU for women Spelman College.
Results & Impact
Raised over 150K for Spelman College since 2015. Talent we've identified have subsequently won James Beard Awards (eg. Kwame Onwuachi, Nina Compton). IDE alumni have cultivated a peer community through our events, farms we've sourced from and stories we've told have received national attention.
