About This Project

Summary

The Safer Communities Accelerator, a project of The Just Trust, focuses on front-end safety solutions, supercharging and scaling community-based public safety models that prevent crime, improve accountability, repair harm, and create pathways for true rehabilitation to improve safety and reduce reliance on the justice system. Participants receive grant funding, strategic support, convenings, trainings, and a broader learning community for knowledge sharing and collective narrative change efforts

Goals & Objectives

SCA aims to reduce over-reliance on arrest/incarceration with community safety + health-based solutions, test + develop evidence base for solutions that can be replicated, impact community thinking, leverage TJT’s investment for new opportunities through public-private and funder partnerships.

Results & Impact

SCA received $6.4M to support 2yr grants to 15 orgs working nationally + locally. They participate in a cohort-based model with peer learning + narrative/communications training. Some have been asked to replicate their models elsewhere, and many are generating positive coverage building awareness.
