About This Project

Summary

The oceans are getting warmer and warmer due to marine heatwaves caused by climate change. Warmer water means more energy for hurricanes, but at the same time, they can store more carbon dioxide. Hence, acidification is a global problem and can have serious consequences such as the disappearance of marine life and the bleaching of corals. In addition, warmer oceans occupy more volume causing coastal flooding to occur more frequently.

Goals & Objectives

To present a report aimed at awakening the viewer’s curiosity about environmental issues, particularly marine heatwaves; a global problem with planetary consequences. Through IMR, we can explore and better understand these processes, enabling us to be more informed and take effective action.

Results & Impact

This video skyrocketed when we launched it on The Weather Channel in Spanish as many Latinos, with an enormous interest, come from countries connected to the sea ranging from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Along with thousands of shares on social media, the video reached more than 300,000 views.
