About This Project
Summary
Nearly 300,000 women die annually from pregnancy-related causes—most in developing countries and largely preventable. In response, the World Health Organization commissioned us to create the "Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response Framework" course. Delivered in English, French, and Spanish, the project blends rich visuals, animated case studies, and inclusive cultural representation to prepare health professionals to address key factors involved in maternal mortality cases.
Goals & Objectives
The course aims to equip health professionals with the skills to establish or strengthen Maternal and Perinatal Death Audit Committees. It covers several key topics (e.g. data quality, prevention strategies, and others) to provide practical, actionable insights for better healthcare decision-making.
Results & Impact
With more than 53,500 certificates awarded, the course has significantly improved data quality, enabling more accurate mortality analysis and informed decision-making. It promotes a continuous improvement approach to death audits, contributing to the reduction of maternal and perinatal mortality.
