Cyberchase: Cyber Sound Quest

Summary

Cyber Sound Quest is a “born accessible” game designed for 6-8-year-old kids, featuring characters from the PBS KIDS math and environmental adventure series, Cyberchase. In this bilingual game, players help CyberSquad member Inez track down noisy items that are disrupting the environment, which are planted by the mischievous Hacker and his henchbots Buzz and Delete. As players progress, they lower the amount of noise pollution the objects cause and restore each Cybersite's natural order.

Goals & Objectives

The game was designed to engage players of all abilities in using key math skills while learning about noise pollution. It is the first bilingual game from Cyberchase—playable in English and Spanish—and incorporates accessibility features to support students with physical and cognitive impairments.

Results & Impact

Since its launch, Cyber Sound Quest has garnered 1.5 million plays on PBS KIDS. It continues Cyberchase’s commitment to “born accessible” game design, innovating kid-appropriate ways to approach foundational math concepts and environmental science concepts for players of all abilities.
