About This Project

Summary

Skillsville invites viewers to “level up” life skills through the adventures of three best friends as they explore a vibrant, video game world of careers. Designed with inclusion at its core, each episode pairs playful career exploration with strategies that support executive function skills, such as planning, focusing, and impulse control. Through the diverse identities and abilities of the characters, Skillsville reflects the real world and fosters confidence and opportunity for every child.

Goals & Objectives

Skillsville empowers viewers, regardless of race, SES, or disability, with simple strategies to overcome challenges and discover many career possibilities. The stories are brought to life through authentic, relatable characters, achieved through experts in culture, disability, and child development.

Results & Impact

Skillsville reached nearly 30 million streams, 2.3 million YouTube views, and ranked 3rd among PBSKIDS streaming content in its first month of premiering. The episodes are free and used by educators and counselors across 18 states, successfully reaching children from underrepresented communities.
