About This Project
Summary
Tigre Gente’s unique impact campaign pioneered two impact strategies for both sides of the jaguar trafficking chain: rural Bolivian communities (supply) and the Chinese diasporic community in Bolivia (demand). This dual strategy was led by both a Bolivian impact producer and a Hong Kongese impact producer. We relied on a framework of empathy, inclusivity, and cultural awareness that was developed by team members and experts from the two communities themselves.
Goals & Objectives
Our goal was to decrease the killing, trafficking, and consumption of jaguars in Bolivia. We partnered with the Environmental Change Institute at The University of Oxford to analyze our documentary campaign’s efficacy in real time.
Results & Impact
We secured critical accident insurance for 267 Bolivian park rangers. Our campaign inspired policymakers to pass a historic legal resolution that implemented stronger protections for jaguars. Chinese audiences indicated that they would not buy jaguar parts after participating in our workshops.
