About This Project
Summary
The new augmented reality app from WDR brings history to life in the classroom. Eighty years after the end of World War II, six contemporary witnesses recount the existential challenges of their childhood: hunger and cold, working as a Trümmerfrau (rubble woman), trauma, and persecution. AR technology allows the eyewitnesses to be virtually placed in the classroom.
Goals & Objectives
The last surviving witnesses recount their memories in elaborately designed virtual experience rooms. Impressive and moving, placed virtually in the classroom by young people. Visually designed chapters spark students' interest in exploring National Socialism and the end of World War II.
Results & Impact
Quote from teacher: It's a completely different form of teaching. I think it resonates much more with the children because everything is addressed in the app. It's called learning from the head to the hand. Everything is addressed.
