About This Project

Summary

The WSL One Ocean initiative united 100+ organizations to protect our oceans, inspiring the surf community to take environmental action. Our efforts showcase the impact across our global events, featuring local communities, world-class surfers, global sustainability partners YETI and Shiseido, WSL PURE grantees and ocean advocates. We implemented sustainability measures, held restoration workshops, reduced plastic waste, and celebrated conservation efforts and inspiring broader participation.

Goals & Objectives

To inspire the surf community to take environmental action, protect and conserve the global ocean, implement sustainability measures at events, and celebrate contributions to ocean conservation. Additionally, we aimed to raise awareness and drive investment in marine protection.

Results & Impact

The WSL One Ocean initiative will fund 10+ local impact projects, protect 45,374 hectares, remove 2 tons of plastic from rivers in El Salvador and Brazil, educate 3,000+ youth, engage 1,635 volunteers, and plant 100,000+ corals with Coral Gardeners through the WSL PURE grant program.
