Summary
This year-long medical investigation examines the alarming and growing number of Americans needing entirely preventable limb amputations because of poorly managed or undiagnosed diabetes.
Goals & Objectives
Our reporting takes a frank look at why black and brown Americans are more likely to be sent into these life-altering and often devastating surgeries than other people. We believe our report is an equal part investigation and public service wake-up call.
Results & Impact
After “Severed” premiered, the American Diabetes Association, the Foundation to Advance Vascular Cures, and other medical advocacy groups, linked to the special on their websites and social media.
