About This Project

Summary

In December 2023, Prince William County’s board of supervisors approved plans for the massive Digital Gateway complex, a data center campus in the narrow corridor between the western border of Manassas National Battlefield Park and Conway Robinson State Forest. In January 2024, the American Battlefield Trust joined local citizens to stop construction of the world’s largest data center campus on more than 1,750 acres immediately adjacent to the National Battlefield Park.

Goals & Objectives

The ultimate goal of stopping data center sprawl is still outstanding, but within reach. Enabling goals include fundraising and community outreach.

Results & Impact

Since 2023, the Trust’s multi-year effort to stop data center sprawl near Manassas Battlefield has mobilized over 4,000 advocates and raised $1.2M+ to support legal, legislative, and grassroots action to keep this irreplaceable historic site in the public and political spotlight.
