About This Project
Summary
Androscoggin Bank partnered with BBC StoryWorks to produce a short documentary highlighting our Islamic mortgage alternative, as part of their "Common Good" series, showcasing worldwide B Corps. The strategy was to raise awareness of faith-aligned finance options and to model inclusive banking on a global stage. As a Bank that was founded to serve Lewiston, Maine immigrants working in mills in the 1800s, we were able to show circularity in how our Bank continues to serve all of our neighbors.
Goals & Objectives
We aimed to visually spotlight an innovative banking solution that empowers homeownership, without forcing people to stray away from their own religious values. The overall goal was to build awareness and trust - while showcasing that companies of all sizes can innovate and make a difference.
Results & Impact
The film launched globally in May 2025 and has earned over 250,000 views across platforms. It has earned us collaborations with B Lab global, speaking opportunities and national attention. Moreover, it deepened trust with the Islamic community, and positioned the bank as a leader in this space.
