About This Project
Summary
Babylist is built to meet families where they are, and helping them save money and waste less is more important than ever. When parents told us they wanted more sustainable options and weren’t afraid to accept preloved items, we built it into our product. In late 2024, we launched a first-of-its-kind registry feature that lets users request secondhand items. In just 6 months, over 500,000 gifts have been marked “open to secondhand,” reducing landfill waste and making parenthood more affordable.
Goals & Objectives
Our goal was to make it easier, more comfortable, and more visible for parents to request pre-loved baby essentials. We wanted to reduce the financial burden on new families, help them get meaningful support from friends and family, and extend the lifecycle of many baby products.
Results & Impact
Our secondhand feature didn't come from a boardroom brainstorm, it came from thousands of parents telling us they wanted pre-loved items but felt awkward asking. Within 6 months, it’s saved families money and diverted over 500k items from landfills, because it’s what parents actually want and need.
