Summary
In a climate of censorship and anti-LGBTQ+ hostility, "Badge Of Pride: From Silence…To Celebration!" turned history into defiance. Presented free at the Irving Archives & Museum and fully translated into gender-inclusive Spanish, it is the largest LGBTQ+ history exhibition ever presented in Texas. Queer-led and community-funded, it transforms a private archive into a civic force—informing, challenging erasure, and reclaiming space to make LGBTQ+ history visible, vital, and unforgettable.
Goals & Objectives
To counter rising LGBTQ+ erasure by using history as a tool for awareness, inclusion, and belonging—especially in Texas, where visibility is under attack. The goal: reclaim space, spark conversation, and affirm queer lives through artifact-driven storytelling that invites empathy and cultural change
Results & Impact
The exhibit broke attendance records and shifted who walked through the doors—more diverse, younger, and LGBTQ. With free, bilingual access, it defied censorship, sparked intergenerational dialogue and built grassroots power. It became a rallying point for queer truth in Texas and a model for others
